Speakeasy Kitchen Bar, South Yarra

·         Lenny and Carl – American cheese and chilli sambal scrambled eggs, toasted black brioche, spring onions and creamy corn ($16.90)
·         Speakeasy Spud – spud hash, fried eggs, spinach, relish, and sweet potato crisps ($17.90)
·         Easy Smash – avocado smash, Meredith goat cheese, beetroot puree, toasted seeds, chilli salt and lemon ($17.50)
·         Paper Bills and Soil – pistachio buttermilk pancakes, with blood orange curd, raspberry compote, fresh berries, chocolate soil and lemon mascarpone ($17.50)

We both chose burgers from their menu. 

I went with the ‘Talk Green n Gold – smoked mushroom and polenta burger with matcha brioche bun, spinach and miso mayo ($17.00)’. I also added fries (+ $3.50). The miso mayo was a highlight of this yummy vegetarian burger. It probably only needed one polenta patty instead of two as polenta can be a bit bland.

My dining companion picked the ‘Speakeasy American – 200g beef burger with cheese, tomato, lettuce, and pickles ($17.00 + $3.50 fries)’. This was also a tasty burger.

We both ordered lattes ($4.00) made with Kommon Grounds coffee…
