WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

·         Pork Ribs – served with braised cabbage and caramelised apple, topped with red wine jus ($29.90)

·         Lamb Pappardelle – slow cooked lamb ragu, rich Napoli sauce, topped with crispy pangrattato ($23.90)

·         Risotto Saffron – seared tiger prawns, tomato, white wine, rocket and a hint of garlic and basil ($24.90) *gluten-free

·         Chocolate Fondant with vanilla bean ice-cream ($9.50 each)

WHAT WE ATE...

We both ordered a pizza...

I chose the ‘Capricciosa Vera – Napoli, bocconcini, leg ham, mushroom, olives, artichoke ($18.50 – regular size)’ pizza. The puffy crust on this pizza was amazing! Sometimes I disregard the crusts of pizzas if I’m full, but the crust on this pizza was an absolute highlight. The toppings were pretty good but needed a punch of garlic.  

My dining companion opted for the ‘Calabrese – Napoli, mozzarella, sopressa salami, artichoke, olives, roasted peppers, chilli ($18.50 – regular size)’ pizza. This fiery pizza was also satisfying and could have easily fed two.

OVERALL…

Visiting Geppetto’s in Burwood is like stepping into Geppetto’s workshop with vintage woodworking tools adorning the walls. This restaurant offers a broad range of traditional Italian dishes, as well as matching Italian wines. Thursday night is pizza night with prices starting from just $15. Upstairs is a colossal function room which may be just what you are seeking for your next function…
