WHAT WE ATE...
It was a
cold night so I decided to have a comforting dish, the ‘Braised Wagyu Beef
Cheek – ragout of autumn mushrooms, baby onions braised in port wine, celeriac purĂ©e,
sauce bordelaise ($45.00)’. The beef pulled away easily with my fork and was
delicious. The onions added sweetness to the dish and the sauce was
exceptional. The celeriac purée was gorgeous, but would have loved to see more generosity
of this element on the dish.
My dining
companion opted for a seafood dish, ‘The Atlantic Beer Battered Fish and Chips –
russet Burbank chips, lemon, tartare sauce ($38.00)’. Inside the cone was a
bounty of crunchy chips and two succulent fillets of fish. The tartare sauce
was marvellous with a good hit of acidity.
WHAT WE DRANK…
We started
the night with some cocktails… I chose the ‘Strawberry Caipirovska – Absolut Vodka,
Monin strawberry shaken with fresh strawberries, lime and sugar ($20.00)’. My dining companion picked the ‘Passionfruit Mojito – Havana Club 3 year Rum, with an explosion of passionfruit and mint, soda water ($24.00).
OVERALL…
For date
night, we dined at The Atlantic, which is part of the Crown Entertainment Complex
at Southbank. Executive Chef, Donovan Cooke, has created a fine dining, seafood
restaurant that is perfect for a romantic night with your loved one. Although
the restaurant focuses on jewels of the ocean, there are plenty of options for vegetarians
and carnivores too. A wonderful place to dine in Southbank…
