WHAT WE ATE...
I opted for
the ‘Fish and Chips – grilled or battered flake fillets, serves with chips,
side salad and tartare ($24.00)’. The fish fillets were succulent with a crispy
batter. The chips were yummy, as well as the generous serve of tartare. A very successful
version of fish and chips…
One of my
dining companions chose the ‘Lambs Fry and Bacon – with vegetables, mash and
onion gravy ($12.00)’ from the Senior’s Menu. The lambs fry was inedible, but
the mash was excellent. The giant, wooden carrots needed more cooking time.
My other
dining companion picked the ‘Bangers and Mash – plump grilled sausages served
with mash, peas and onion gravy ($12.00)’ from the Senior’s Menu. This dish was
a superior option for seniors with delicious sausages, mash and gravy.
My dining
companions also enjoyed a dessert, the ‘Mini Pavlova with mixed berries and
passionfruit coulis ($2.50)’.
WHAT WE DRANK…
We ordered a
couple of glasses of the ‘Brown Brothers Crouchen Riesling ($7.50)’…
OVERALL…
For my
grandmother’s 88th birthday, I drove my grandparents up the road to
their favourite pub for lunch. Out of the various pubs in the area, the Blackburn
Hotel has the best pub grub on offer, at reasonable prices. The service is
great and parking is conveniently located out the back.
