WHAT WE ATE...
We shared a
couple of pizzas between the four of us.
The ‘Capricciosa Romana – tomato, ham, artichokes, mushrooms, fior di latte and olives ($20.00)’ was delicious with a
harmony of quality toppings.
The ‘Sicilian
– tomato, fior di latte, garlic, parmigiano, oregano, olives, capers, anchovies
($19.00)’ had a big punch of flavour from the essentially salty ingredients.
Both pizzas were delightful but this seemed to be the crowd favourite.
We also
ordered a salad. The ‘Insalata – rocket, pear and gorgonzola dressing ($10.00)’ had a great balance of sweet and sour, which complemented the pizzas.
WHAT WE DRANK…
I enjoyed a
glass of ‘Hoddles Creek Chardonnay - ($8.00)’…
OVERALL…
For my
mother’s birthday, we went to Cantina Centrale for dinner before going to a
show at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. As we were booked for the restaurant’s first
sitting for the night, the food and service was swift, allowing us to get to
the event on time. The menu consists of tantalising pasta dishes, as well as
pizzas which are cooked in an impressive wood fired oven. Gluten-free bases are
also available for $5 extra.
