WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

·         Duck Risotto - Crispy skin duck leg, wild mushroom, goats cheese and spinach risotto ($30.00)

·         Prawn and Avocado Caesar Pizza - prawns, parmesan, coddled egg, topped with anchovy dressing, cos lettuce, pancetta and avocado ($30.00 for a 2-person pizza)

·         Wild Rocket and Pear Pizza - tomato, cheese, walnuts, prosciutto & blue cheese accompanied by a rocket, pear & fig salad ($30.00 for a 2-person pizza)

·         Dark Chocolate Mousse – bitter dark chocolate mousse, passionfruit curd, meringue ($12.00)

WHAT WE ATE...

We started with the ‘Crispy house made bread - lightly brushed with olive oil, served with a trio of dips (garlic aioli, olive tapenade, basil pesto) ($10.00)’. The soft house made bread was an excellent vessel for the dips. Our favourite dip out of the three was the olive tapenade which had a lovely earthiness to it and wasn’t overpowering.

The restaurant offers pizzas in either 1-person or 2-person sizes which is a great idea. For our main, we decided to share a two-person pizza. The ‘Vegetarian Pizza - tomato, cheese, onion, sun dried tomato, eggplant, mushrooms, artichoke, pineapple, olives, roasted peppers, avocado, oregano, garlic ($28.00)’ was massive and they were very generous with their toppings. I prefer a less is more approach to my pizzas but the pizza tasted nice. 

OVERALL…

Augello’s is over the road from the Balwyn Cinemas so it is perfect for a movie date. You can have dinner and a glass of wine and then pop over to see a movie afterwards. Augello’s is located at the bottom of a new apartment block and has a sleek interior design. The waitress that served us on the night was fabulous!
