WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

·         Fried Chicken Katsu – free-range chicken, coleslaw, pickles, lettuce and katsu sauce ($10.50)

·         The Bacon Project – grass-fed beef, loads of bacon, cheese, pickles, onions and secret sauce ($13.90)

·         Blueberry Pie – vanilla bean ice-cream with blueberry compote and crumble ($6.00)

·         Strawberry Pavlova – vanilla bean ice-cream, strawberry sauce and meringue ($6.00)

WHAT WE ATE...

The menu consists of burgers and ice-cream desserts. For drinks, you can order one of their Salted Caramel shakes ($7.50) or their house made sodas ($4.50) like Passion Pop… I tried the vegetarian burger: the ‘Magic Mushroom – crumbed confit mushroom, cheese, onion, pickles, tomato, lettuce and secret sauce ($10.50)’. I enjoyed the crunchy mushroom filling but the ‘secret sauce’ was a bit dull compared to the excitement generated from its alluring description. It tasted like tomato sauce with some added spices...

My dining companion opted for the ‘Classic – grass-fed beef, onion, pickles, tomato, lettuce, and secret sauce ($8.90)’. The burger was underwhelming and my dining companion found that McDonald’s Big Mac sauce would have enhanced the burger instead of their ‘secret sauce’.

We also ordered two Small Chips ($3.50 each) with regular salt. There is also Sichuan pepper salt or chipotle chilli salt to choose from. I was not a fan of these chips. The ‘regular salt’ gave them a very harsh taste.

OVERALL…

As part of Chadstone’s redevelopment, the new ‘Dining Terrace’ has been created where you will find eateries such as Fonda and Burger Project. We thought we would try Burger Project which is Neil Perry and the Rockpool Restaurant Group’s latest venture. The service was not exactly efficient or friendly, but they do offer a glass of water if you ask for it repeatedly...
