Now and Then Cafe, Kew



WHAT’S ON THE MENU?
·         Blueberry Hotcakes – buttermilk hotcake drenched in maple syrup, topped with vanilla ice-cream, choc honeycomb and macerated berries ($16.50)
·         Health Attack Vegan Scramble – tofu, mushroom, baby corn, spinach and gluten free soy sauce ($15.00)
·         Sirloin 250g, red wine jus, herb and caramelised butter and fat chips ($28.00)
·         Baja Fish Tiki Tacos – fried snapper, avocado, mango salsa and our special mayo, served with soft corn tortillas x 3 ($17.00)





WHAT WE ATE...
I chose the ‘Reuben Sandwich on Rye – shaved pastrami, sauerkraut, pickles, mustard, swiss cheese and Russian dressing ($17.00)’. I was very impressed with this version of a Reuben, with the spicy, thick-cut pastrami and the lusciousness from the Russian dressing and melted cheese. The bread was perfectly toasted so that it was golden but also munchable. The bucket of chips was an added bonus.  


My dining companion opted for the ‘Boston Baked Beans and Eggs – butter beans slowly baked with bacon, molasses, onion and house spiced blend with toasted bread and fried egg ($15.00)’. The beans had a wonderful sweet flavour with a touch of smokiness that complemented the fried eggs.

Our lattes ($3.80) were very nice…


OVERALL…
Now and Then brings the Hamptons to Kew where you can enjoy an American inspired menu. Inside is bright and vast with a coastal Long Island vibe. Having such a spacious interior, Now and Then is perfect for a large family catch-up. If you have a function coming up, then consider booking their sapphire-coloured function room, TopDeck…
