WHAT’S ON THE MENU…

Satay Tofu-yaki served with mixed salad ($10.00)
Stewed Tomato Noodles – mixed vegetables in thin noodles in tomato broth ($18.00)
Matcha Ice Cream served with red azuki compote, pearl barley and honey cake ($10.00)
Hey Rosie! Mocktail – rosewater, lemon juice, mint and syrup ($8.50)

WHAT WE ATE...

We ordered the Tasting Menu ($38.00 per person) and everything we sampled was vegan and extremely delicious… even my meat-loving dining companion agreed!

Our first entrée was ‘Steamed Buns – Asian-style bun stuffed with daikon pickles, cucumber, coriander and peanuts’. We had a Barbeque Tofu bun and a Crispy Peking Bean Curd bun.

Next was the ‘Rock and Rolls – deep-fried, homemade sesame tofu and spring rolls served with mixed salad and ginger soy sauce’.

For mains, we tried the ‘Tom-Yam Soy Fish with mashed potato, baby spinach and button mushroom’. The faux fish looked and tasted like the real thing!

We also sampled the ‘Mushroom Filo Pie – mixed wild mushroom stuffed pie served with cauliflower purée, broccolini and dukka’.

We finished the night with a couple of desserts. The ‘Mille-Feuille – puff pastry with custard cream and mixed berries’ was luscious.

We were very full at this stage but were absolutely delighted with the ‘Roasted Coconut Panna Cotta – served with tropical fruits and fairy floss’.

WHAT WE DRANK...

We chose a mocktail each. I picked the ‘Mr. Grey – Earl Grey, lemon soda, syrup and lime ($8.50)’.

My dining companion chose the ‘Mad Scientist – lychee, lemon soda, berry syrup and popping candy ($8.50)’. It was a delicious science experiment.

OVERALL…

V Series in Kew has been introducing locals to the flavour and versatility of plant based dishes. The chef at V Series is a highly experienced pastry chef who also happens to be a vegetarian. Naturally, we were thrilled to try her desserts… Also, don’t forget to try one of her amazing vegan cupcakes to take home or have with a cup of coffee.
