Short Straw, Hawthorn

WHAT’S ON THE MENU?
·         Wild mushrooms, chorizo, rainbow chard, fried enoki, poached eggs, pumpkin loaf, shaved manchego ($18.00)
·         Thai sardine salad with whole fried sardines, bean shoots, peanut, coconut, sweet soy, Asian herb slaw, tamarind, fresh chilli ($20.00) *gluten free
·         Morning grain salad with quinoa, brown rice, pomegranate, sumac corn, pistachio, poached egg, chai soaked sultanas, beetroot leaves, cumin yoghurt ($16.00)
·         Vietnamese scrambled eggs, fresh chilli, toasted roti bread, sweet soy, papaya, Asian herb salad ($15.00)

WHAT WE ATE...
I chose the ‘Buttermilk hotcakes, blueberry compote, vanilla mascarpone, maple, roasted hazelnut ($16.00)’. A stack of three hotcakes arrived with a lovely combination of blueberries and hazelnuts on top. I managed to eat the whole thing as it was scrumptious but this was indeed a very filling dish.

My dining companion decided to order the ‘Zucchini and feta fritters, house-made chilli jam, avocado, sumac corn, shaved cauliflower and apple slaw ($15.00)’. The fried fritters were very tasty on their own. The fiery chilli jam and the freshness of the slaw complemented the flavour of the fritters.

WHAT WE DRANK...
My latte ($3.80) made with Niccolo Coffee was pretty good.
