Madame Sousou
Bonjour my lovely readers! After a stroll around the
Fitzroy Market, we thought we would enjoy some brunch at Madame Sousou. The
breakfast menu is a great way to experience this sophisticated French bistro
for a lower price. Then again, the dinner menu has a very tempting selection
too... Well, to solve this conundrum perhaps try both menus...
My friend was keen to have some brioche so picked the Croque
Madame Sousou - toasted brioche with ham, cheese and a fried egg ($15.00). This
was also flawless and very scrumptious.
The service was lovely and efficient and they habitually replenished our glasses of water. So if you fancy a trip to Paris without the hefty airfare, Madame Sousou ‘can-can’ provide a delicious alternative...
We had a couple of luscious lattes ($3.50) to start with
whilst we studied the menu. Some delightful dishes from their breakfast menu
include Sweetcorn and zucchini fritters with smoked salmon, avocado salsa, and
horseradish crème ($18.00) and French crêpes with lemon curd and fresh
raspberries ($16.00). I felt like some hollandaise so I chose the ‘œufs Van
Dieman’ - poached eggs on an English muffin with Tasmanian smoked salmon and
tarragon hollandaise sauce ($16.00). Although a simple dish, it was executed to
perfection. The tarragon hollandaise was brilliant and even the muffin was beautifully
toasted. It really showed that they put that little bit extra of love and care
into their food.
