Uncle Collins Street, CBD



WHAT’S ON THE MENU?
·         Lime cured hapuka, coconut, pomegranate and chilli on betel leaf ($6.50 each)
·         Tofu bahn mi with pickles and peanuts ($6.50 each)
·         Pan-seared barramundi with glass noodles, tamarind caramel, tomato and grilled pineapple salad ($34.00)
·         Strawberry tart with black vinegar curd, basil meringue, and pistachio ice-cream ($13.00)



WHAT WE ATE...
We both asked for the ‘Uncle Knows Best ($59.00 per person)’. It was a wonderful way to try a variety of dishes and finding unexpected favourites that you may not have otherwise ordered.

Raw kingfish, longan, sesame, wasabi peas, soy with a coconut and tamarind foam ($16.00)


Wok tossed endamame, beer nuts and chilli salt ($8.00)


Tongue and cheek, wrapped in bean curd skin with fragrant herbs and a spicy satay ($16.00)


Clarence river school prawns, silken tofu, white fungus, garlic shoots, and cured egg yolk ($16.50)


Crispy pigs’ ears bahn mi with pickles and peanuts ($6.50 each)


Bo luc lac, shaking porterhouse cubes with confit pearl onions, smoked tomato salsa, garlic and watercress ($35.00)


French fries with Szechuan salt ($6.00)


Red cabbage, bean sprouts, pickled lotus stems and mint ($9.00)


Tapioca fruit salad with sorbet, honeycomb, and coconut foam ($12.00)


WHAT WE DRANK…
We sampled a couple of cocktails. I chose the ‘See You Bye – Trombo Blanco tequila, lime, coriander, lemongrass, chilli, palm sugar and a dash of fish sauce ($18.50)’. 


My dining companion picked the ‘Mekong Splice – Stolen white rum, mango sorbet, tea shrub, lime, chilli and coconut foam ($19.50)’.



OVERALL…

Food = 3 spoonfuls of sugar


Drinks = 3 spoonfuls of sugar


Service = 3 spoonfuls of sugar
