WHAT WE ATE...
I chose the ‘Buttermilk hotcakes, blueberry compote, vanilla mascarpone, maple, roasted hazelnut ($16.00)’. A stack of three hotcakes arrived with a lovely combination of blueberries and hazelnuts on top. I managed to eat the whole thing as it was scrumptious but this was indeed a very filling dish.
WHAT WE DRANK...
My latte
($3.80) made with Niccolo Coffee was pretty good.
OVERALL…
There is a plethora
of delightful cafĂ©s in Hawthorn and no doubt you have your favourites… However,
there is a new café on the block that might end up on your revised favourites
list. Short Straw is located just off Glenferrie Road and has a wonderful,
relaxed vibe and a brilliant menu. The interior is light and cheery with hanging
baskets full of greenery. Try it out for yourself next time you are in Hawthorn…
