WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

·         Smashed avocado with dukkah, mint and goats cheese ($10.00)

·         Pulled lamb salad, roast pumpkin and cumin, pomegranate, cress, feta ($18.00)

·         Baked eggs, beans, chorizo, coriander, goats cheese, pine nuts ($15.00)

·         Nutella and banana French toast sandwich ($9.00)

WHAT WE ATE...

I picked the ‘Falafel and fried tofu salad, spinach, roast pumpkin, semi-dried tomato, pearl couscous, tahini yoghurt and pickled ginger ($16.00)’. This enjoyable vegetarian dish was very colourful. The interesting combination of ingredients worked well together but I would love to see some more pearl couscous.

My dining companion chose the ‘Southern style chicken with chilli and coriander, fried egg, streaky bacon, tomato chutney, butter lettuce on toasted brioche ($15.00)’. The chicken was tender and juicy but the chilli was negligible. The burger could have been enhanced with an aioli rather than a tomato chutney but a pleasant burger all the same.

WHAT WE DRANK...

My latte ($3.80) was better than other coffees I have had at Eastland.  

    

 Afterwards, I ordered a pot of Earl Grey Tea ($3.50) which was very pleasant.

OVERALL…

I was excited to see that a new café had opened in Eastland that had a contemporary café menu. Billy Barista is located on Level 2, near Kmart. I must say that we received brilliant table service during our visit and our water was continually topped up.
