WHAT WE ATE...
We dined on
a Thursday which is Pizza Night where all pizzas are just $12.
I opted for ‘The
Publican – prawn, basil pesto, fresh chilli, basil and bocconcini’. This pizza
had a crisp base and the toppings burned with intensity. It was lucky I had my
beer ready! The combination of chilli, seafood and basil (and beer) was brilliant.
My dining
companion chose the ‘Three Peat – Napoli, roasted chicken, pineapple, mushroom
and BBQ sauce’. A liberal serving of chicken and mushroom was enhanced by the
swirl of BBQ sauce. A perfect pizza to match with your beer.
WHAT WE DRANK…
To go with
the pizza, we tried the beer of the month: Wild Yak ($6.00 for a schooner).
OVERALL…
We
celebrated Australia Day at the Elgin Inn before going into the city to watch
the fireworks. The service was fabulous and they were happy for us to taste
test the beers before making a final decision. It is one of those pubs that makes you feel
very at home. Another highlight of the Elgin Inn
is Copperhead Road which is a 1920’s inspired rooftop bar that serves prohibition
style cocktails.
