WHAT WE ATE...
I chose the ‘Char-grilled asparagus and field mushroom served on a truffle and lemon oil risotto ($24.00)’.
I had my doubts when I ordered the risotto because every time I choose one from a
pub or R.S.L. they are usually terrible! Thankfully, this was the complete
opposite as the flavoursome rice was the perfect texture. The plating of the
dish was stylish, with the plump mushroom and charred asparagus placed on top
of the risotto. It was delicious!
My dining
companion picked the ‘Traditional Fish and Chips – battered dory fillets with
chips and salad ($14 for seniors, otherwise $25.00)’. The senior size portion
was enough for anyone with a generous serving of crispy fish. The colourful
salad was better than your usual side salad with the inclusion of olives.
OVERALL…
I took my
grandfather out for lunch at the Box Hill R.S.L. the other day and we had a
delightful time. The menu and food had improved considerably since I had dined
there a couple of years ago. The plush, purple interior adorned with
chandeliers and green pillows was very regal. The service was excellent and the
lovely barman went out of his way to help us.
