WHAT’S ON THE MENU?

·         Slim Shady – vanilla glaze with mini M&M’s

·         Crème de la Crème – Crème Brûlée custard-filled and topped with toffee

·         Veruca Salt – salted caramel-filled and dusted with cinnamon sugar

·         Love at First Bite – Nutella-filled and dusted with cinnamon sugar

WHAT WE ATE...

I chose the ‘Head in the Clouds – strawberry and cream glaze, topped with strawberry clouds ($6.00)’. This doughnut also happens to be ‘low gluten’ if that is your thing but I just picked it because it sounded yummy… The texture was light and fluffy but the topping didn’t wow me. It was a perfectly acceptable doughnut but at $6.00 you expect it to blow your mind… Shortstop and All Day Donuts are still my favourites and are much cheaper.

My dining companion decided to have the ‘Purple Haze – cream and grape glaze, popping candy and a grape sour strap ($6.00)’. This was also a very dazzling and colourful doughnut with an alright flavour.

OVERALL…

On my quest to try all the new doughnuts shops around Melbourne, it was Doughnut Time’s... um, time. You will find Doughnut Time outlets in the CBD and Chapel Street but there is also a shop in Fitzroy. The doughnuts are very colourful and would make a striking picture for your Instagram feed…
