DESCRIPTION…
Whenever I
think of the warm weather the exotic blooms of the Hibiscus always come to
mind. The flamboyant flowers come in all shades of the sunset. The most common
varieties are Hibiscus rosa-sinensis that prefers frost-free areas and Hibiscus
syriacus which is deciduous and more cold tolerant.
CARE…
Fertilise in
the warmer months with a high potash content fertiliser. They prefer full sun
and a lime free soil.
PROBLEMS...
They are
generally problem free except for hibiscus beetle attack which can be dealt
with by spraying with pyrethrum.
WHERE TO BUY…
Grab a pot
from the Flamenco range at Bunnings for $11.99. A more compact variety that is
ideal for pots.
