Weekend Away - Ballarat Part 2

We sat down for some afternoon tea at Larder in Daylesford. The breakfast/lunch menu looked very tempting so I am keen to return for a meal next time I’m in Daylesford for a romantic weekend away... After such a massive toastie lunch, we didn’t feel like a cake so we just ordered some Slow Tea Co. teas ($3.70) which are based right here in Daylesford. My travelling companion picked the ‘English Breakfast’ whilst I chose the ‘Green Tea & Jasmine’. My tea was so aromatic and flavoursome... the perfume of jasmine was intoxicating. The service was also excellent at Larder.

We checked in at Craig’s Royal Hotel which is right in the middle of town. The Art Gallery of Ballarat is a stroll up the road so is the perfect place to stay if you are coming up to Ballarat to visit the Archies. The Hotel opened in 1853 but has undergone an extensive renovation to make it a beautiful historic hotel with the modern touches that are necessary... like ensuites! The hotel has 41 historic and luxurious rooms or suites to choose from which you can easily book on their website. Special accommodation packages such as the ‘Gourmet Getaway Package’ are very tempting... Valet parking and the morning newspaper waiting outside your room are just some of the comforts that you will receive. The staff were incredibly helpful and created a brilliant guest experience for us. There was a wedding at the hotel the night we stayed and it looked like a wonderful room to create your dream wedding. Our bathroom offered complementary L’Occitane bath products (my favourite!) and it was spotlessly clean. Thanks again to the Craig’s Royal Hotel for a wonderful time.

In my next post, I will cover the culinary side of the hotel...
