Kuala Lumpur Restaurant, Carnegie

I received some restaurant vouchers from Zomato a while ago and one of those vouchers was for the Kuala Lumpur Restaurant in Carnegie. In case you don’t already know, Urbanspoon was taken over by Zomato and has a range of new features for Melbourne foodies... Anyway, Koornang Road has an abundance of Asian eateries but the Kuala Lumpur Restaurant has been around for nearly a couple of decades. They must be serving some decent Malaysian fare to survive so much competition! You can see for yourself by popping into the Kuala Lumpur Restaurant for a Malaysian feast next time you are in the area...

WHAT’S ON THE MENU?
·        Eggplant with spicy minced pork in a clay pot ($18.90)
·        Spicy Salted Egg Tofu ($16.90)
·        Singapore Chilli Crab ($25.90)
·        Century Egg and Pork Congee ($10.90)

WHAT WE ATE...
We shared some ‘Vegetarian Dumplings x 4 ($6.80)’. They were generously filled with vegetables and lots of mushrooms.

The ‘Roti with Satay Sauce ($5.80)’ was flaky and not too greasy. The sauce had a lovely flavour.

I chose the ‘Vegetarian Char Kway Teow – spicy fried flat noodles with vegetables, egg, and bean shoots ($13.90)’. It was a very big serve so I didn’t have any room for dessert. It had a nice kick of heat and tasted delicious.

My dining companion decided to have the ‘Seafood Curry Laksa ($17.90)’. The laksa had a good flavour and plenty of seafood. However, the calamari was a bit tough.

WHAT WE DRANK...
We ordered a pot of Chinese Tea ($1.20 per person).

SERVICE...
The service was excellent and eager to cater for any dietary requirements.
