Hawthorn Common
There is nothing common about Hawthorn Common... The
eatery uses only seasonal produce and makes everything from scratch. They also
have an onsite stone mill bakery, coffee roaster and heat microbe based
composter to handle all their organic waste. The space is bright and roomy with
an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs at work. Dining on the outdoor deck
amongst the greenery is also an enjoyable way to spend your afternoon.

·
BBQ Salad – char-grilled chicken breast, charred

milk, apple, brioche ($18.00)
WHAT WE ATE...
I picked the ‘Flan – ricotta, cured trout, dill, beetroot
relish, sour cream and brioche ($18.00)'. What an enchanting dish! It looked almost
too pretty to eat... but of course I did anyway. The slivers of flan were
indulgent and the extremely generous serving of cured trout added more
lavishness. Thankfully, the tartness of the vibrant beetroot balanced the dish.

WHAT WE DRANK...
If you are on a health kick after all those Easter eggs,
then maybe the ‘Green Smoothie – kale, avocado, banana, dates, filtered water ($7.00)’
may captivate you. Coffee was not listed on the menu so I am unsure of the price.
My latte was fabulous.
